Book your trip last-minute
I think that it is so fun to go online and find places to go on the fly. There are all kinds of sites that you can go on like Expedia.com and CheapTickets.com. They have “Cheap of the Week” that is great to find fantastic last minute deals.
Save money when eating out
Food can be big ticket items. To cut down try these tips:
- Stay at hotels that have free breakfast or kitchens in the room.
- Pack snacks for the whole family when you go out on your day trips.
- Consider having a late lunch at around 2:00 this way you will only need to snack at night.
Time for a road trip. Save on Gas!
Find lower gas prices where your staying by visiting FuelMeUp.com or GasBuddy.com.
- Buy gas on Tuesday or Wednesday, research shows gas prices are lower.
- Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Under-inflated tires can reduce your fuel efficiency.
Use a list, and limit the souvenirs
Smart packing will save you tons on your trip. Make sure you use a list of things you will need. Use pictures to capture your memories. Give each member a certain dollar amount to spend on the trip. This will be a great learning experience. Not to mention that they will now be asking for things every two minutes.
