How to Plan a Great Game Night!

Once a month we try to have a game night with 3 other family’s. This is great fun. I have a list of families in my day timer that Rod and I wanted to invite over. Then I put in my calendar game night and start sending out e-invites.

Kids are welcome and they can play on the Wii or watch movies. The adults all play games like Cranium, Uno, Catch Phrase, or my favorite Cash Flow by Robert Kiyosaki. It is a game that helps you understand the fundamental’s of money. Each family brings a appetizer and a beverage to share. We usually go on for 4 or more hours.

I keep the list moving so that we get to know more people on a deeper level. I also like to have people who don’t know each other come at the same time so they can find new friends. I can’t tell you how many people have commented that they had more fun here then they did spending $200 at a game. Quite frankly they are a little shocked.

Let the games begin!

Let the games begin!

Here are a few ideas to make it fun!

* Pick a nice cozy spot and enhance the room! If there’s a stereo, pop in an exciting music CD to enhance your activity.
* Don’t forget the snacks! Grab some popcorn, chips, pretzels, gummy worms, juice, etc.
* When you are done with the activity, have another round (if your time allows) or set up a date for another Family Fun Night!
* Prepare a special dish just for the party! Whether it’s Laffy Taffys, sundaes, or even vegetables with dip, bring something out for the whole family to munch on along with the other goodies.
