Think about it, what makes a movie fun to go to? Is it really the movie or is it the smells, the environment, and the anticipation? So we sought out to make movie night at the house just as fun. We start out making pizza (Dijornos frozen pizza) and put out special drinks that they kid’s don’t get everyday (Tomas Kemmper, Lemon aid with mint and seltzer water,).
We grab blankets and pillows turn down the lights and make it a no talking zone. One hour into the movie we have a intermission for snacks. We microwave popcorn, pull out fun size candy, more pop and then the is movie back on.
You can go to those Red boxes at all the grocery stores and rent new releases for $1.00. They will charge you a late fee if you don’t’ return it by the next day at 7:00 p.m.
Total cost of this event is:
* $1.00 Movie
* $5.50 Pizza on sale
* $2.00 Pop
* $.50 Pop corn
* $2.00 Candy
Total is $11.00 about the cost of one person going to a movie alone. With this plan you have pizza, snacks, beverages, and a movie in the comfort of your own home. The fun thing about it is the only thing that will come out of your spending money budget is the movie. Everything else is in the food budget.
If you can’t wait another minute, and have to go to the movies. Go ahead and check out your local theaters. We have theater that sells tickets for $5.00 if you go before noon on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This is a great deal if you can control yourself with the hypnotic smell of the popcorn. Here’s how I handle this. I pack candy bar’s in my purse with a couple can’s of pop. If you are really good you can pop a couple of those individual pop corn bags before you get there. That way you can have a great date without cashing in your 401K to pay for it.
